Why we’re looking for you

At Store Growers, our articles are the lifeblood of our company.

It’s how new people find us and how we communicate our expertise and insights to the world.

Today, we’re looking for a Managing Editor to raise the bar on our content marketing efforts.

Practically, we’re looking for someone that can get the blog readership to 100,000 unique visitors a month within the first year. (About a 3x of where we’re at today)

What you will do

Here are some of the activities you’ll be doing as our Managing Editor, you will:

  • Manage our content calendar
  • Guard the quality and tone of voice
  • Coordinate with contractors (writers, editors, designers, marketing team)
  • Write “tier one” articles
  • Identify content that needs to be updated
  • Develop content repurposing strategy
  • Refine Content promotion strategy
  • Improve processes and documentation

In your first week, you will get familiar with the company, our content marketing processes, and the quality level we’re looking for.

After, you’ll work for a few weeks in the current process to get a feel for how it all works, and also to get familiar with the quality level we’re looking for.

Then, with a good idea about the current situation and the objectives we’re after, you can work more independently and make changes to the process to get results quicker.

About you

You’re a freelancer with a minimum of 1 day a week available for us.

We’re looking for someone that has managed the content marketing process before.

This role is ideal for someone with a lot of writing experience and a prior managing editor role.

A successful candidate for this role needs to have the following traits:

  • Growth mindset: you might not know how to do something yet, but you’re eager to figure it out
  • Take ownership: the tasks that you take on are yours. That means seeing them through till the end. 
  • Guardian of quality: you’re the guardian of quality for the content that we put out.

To be effective in this role you need the following experience:

  • Can think strategically and tactically about content marketing
  • 3+ years of experience writing engaging long-form content
  • 1 year of editing experience
  • Intermediate understanding of SEO

For all these, you can show proof, or can provide references that can back up your claims.

Bonus points if you have experience with any of the following:

  • Digital marketing
  • Google Ads 
  • Ecommerce
  • PPC tools
